Abstract
In the regeneration of catalysts used in benzine synthesis by dissolving the metals in acid and again precipitating and reducing them, the catalyst is first treated at temperatures of 300 DEG C. or more with hydrogen, steam or inert gases, or with two or more of these simultaneously or successively, in order to remove deposited organic substances. When steam is used it also destroys the pyrophoric properties of the catalyst. If desired an extraction with solvents may precede the treatment with gases. An example specifies a catalyst consisting of cobalt, thorium dioxide, and kieselguhr.
