484,045. Noise-excluding windows; ventilators. FISK, SIR E. T. June 16,1937, No. 16758. Convention date, June 16, 1936. [Classes 20 (iii) and 137] A window for railway passenger coaches and road vehicles has two sashes, the outer having an opening Q below and the inner having an opening K above. The opening K communicates with the interior of the vehicle through a tiltable louvre N or hit-and-miss ventilator. The top of the inner sash comprises. a wooden panel J extending into a cavity preferably lined with felt, sponge rubber, or like sound insulation L. M. The unglazed parts of sashes may be coated with non-resonant material. The sashes are preferably fixed but may swing on pivots for cleaning. The inner sash may be divided into hinged section.s. The ventilators N may be omitted and air allowed to enter the vehicle directly from the cavity K. A roller blind may be provided on the inside of the inner sash.
