Abstract
482,417. Domestic firegrates. MITCHELL, RUSSELL, & CO., Ltd., and MITCHELL, J. July 21, 1937, No. 20176. [Class 126] In a shaking bottom-grate for domestic fireplaces, of the kind comprising two or more movable sections 8, 9 interconnected so that movement of one section by means of a shaker-rod 14 automaticallycauses simultaneous movement in the opposite direction of the adjacent section or sections, the connecting means comprise bars 6 pivoted in brackets 5 secured to the fixed frame 3 and formed with slightly elongated holes 11 in which engage pins 10 on the sections 8, 9. The frame 3, which overhangs the sections 8, 9, is supported on lugs 2 secured to the fireplace wall 1 and is formed with downwardly inclined upper faces 4. The sections 8, 9 have longitudinal bars 12 of the crosssection shown in Fig. 3, these bars being formed with upwardly projecting ash-agitating fingers 13. In a modification comprising three side-by-side grate sections, the shaker-rod 14 is attached to the middle section which is connected by four bars 6 to the side sections.
