Abstract
481,553. Railway - vehicle couplings. UNION-KUPPLUNG AKT.-GES. July 14, 1937, No. 19559. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1936. Addition to 446,907. [Class 103 (v)] The invention claimed in the parent Specification is-modified in that, on each coupler head, the buffing or impact surfaces, of which at least two are provided as shown at 8, 9, Fig. 1, and the nose surfacce 41 of the locking-bolt 19 lie substantially in the medial transverse plane Q, Q of the head, while the centres of pressure S<1>, S<2>, Fig. 3, of the surfaces 8, 9 lie substantially in the vertical medial longitudinal plane of the head, but displaced from the longitudinal axis T. Instead of arranging only two impact surfaces 8, 9 as shown, the surface 9 may be replaced by two surfaces 9<1>, 911 as indicated in dotted lines, Fig. 1, one surface being slightly in advance of the plane Q, Q and the other to the rear thereof. The surface 8 may be formed as a bridge connecting the guiding horns 3, 3<1>, and to the rear thereof is located a recess'M in which dirt &c. may be collected, thereby preventing its accumulation on the machined surfaces 8, 9, 12, 12<1>, 13, 13<1>. The bolt 19 may be operated for uncoupling by means of a two-part lever 32, 32<1>, to which the bolt is connected at 31 and which pivots about the point of contact with the head of a projection 33 on the lever 32. For suspending the coupler-head on the draw-hook 21, a yoke 20 is provided the limbs of which terminate in slides 23 engaging grooves 24 in wings 25, 25<1> on the head, the wing 251, if desired, being pivoted on a rupturable bolt 28. In a modification, means including a universal joint are described for supporting the coupler-head in a lower position in relation to the hook.
