Abstract
479,659. Impact pulverizers. HARDINGE CO., Inc. June 25, 1937, No. 17731. Convention date, July 18, 1936. [Class 59] An ore-reducing machine comprises a revolcable drum with internal peripheral buckets having open ends spaced from the side walls of the drum, an annular shroud mounted on the end wall of the drum and having its inner portion overlapping the open ends of the buckets, whereby ore carried in the buckets and overflowing the open ends thereof will fall into pockets formed in the drum by the shroud and end wall of the drum, and means for discharging from the machine fine particles of ore from the pockets. As shown a drum 11 is mounted on trunnions 14, 15 and is rotated by a motor 17 through sprocket wheels 18, 19. The drum is provided with lifting buckets 22 which are spaced from the side walls 12, 13 by pockets 26 formed by plates 29 inclined to the walls 12, 13 and bounded by inclined annular rings 27, 28. Material is fed through shoot 43 in trunnion 14 and is distributed by the ring 27 into the buckets 22, some of the material spreading along the buckets and falling into the pockets 26. The ring 28 is formed at intervals around the circumference with screening means 31 through which fine material carried by the pockets passes to another screen 38 of arcuate form before entering, through pipe 36, a classifier 40 which may be of the kind described in Specification 389,338. The oversize material from the classifier is returned bv shoot 41 to the buckets 22. Material carried upwardly by the buckets falls onto the lowermost buckets which contain a bed of material which was trapped in the pockets on the upward half of the rotation of the drum and returned to the buckets, after being screened, on the downward half of the rotation of the drum.
