Abstract

477,754. Photographic diazotype processes. SOKAL, S. (Kalle & Co., Akt.-Ges.) Oct. 12, 1936, No. 16043/37. Divided out of 467,313. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 13, 1937.] [Class 98 (ii)] In the preparation of light-sensitive materials by applying to a base a diazo compound with or without an azo coupling component and rubbing in a developing powder which may also contain the coupling component, the powder consists of a neutral reacting salt of a weak base with a weak acid fugitive in steam. Suitable salts are zinc acetate and zinc formate. In examples, paper is sensitized with a solution of the diazo compound of 1-amino-4-benzoylamino-2: 5-diethoxybenzene and citric acid, and a powder consisting of phloroglucine and zinc acetate which may contain a diluent such as starch, is rubbed into the layer. Loose powder may be blown off by dry air under pressure, the paper may be finally calendered. Lead acetate may be used in place of zinc acetate. The diazo compounds used may be such as couple in neutral or acid condition.
