Abstract

477,582. Cutting-off metal &c, METAL TRIM, Ltd., and PENKALA, E. June 29, 1936, No. 17995. [Classes 60 and 145 (ii)] A machine for cutting-off lengths of profiled metal, comprises a frame 1 supported at its lower corners on a frame 5 by means of locking-bolts 4 which engage inclined slots 1b in brackets 1a so that when the frame 1 is moved laterally by an eccentric &c. 6 carried by a spindle 6a mounted in the frame 5, the frame 1 is raised or lowered. The frame 5 carries grooved rollers 2 running on rails 3 so that the frame 1 may move with forwardly fed work. The frame 1 carries' transverse channel members 1d in which is supported, by rollers 10, a carriage 11 provided with brackets 11b having curved slots therein, the carriage also having thereon a support 13 which is pivoted by trunnions 13a located adjacent the. centre of the cutting- disc 8, which may be an abrasive disc with a resinoid bond or a soft steel disc with the periphery slotted or knurled. The support carries the cutter spindle 8a which is driven by a multiple belt 14 from a motor 12 adjustably secured to the support 13 by pillars 15a ; the inclination of the disc 8 to the surface of a work table 7 carried by the frame 1 is adjusted by movement about the trunnions 13a, the support being locked by bolts 8b. The table 7 is slotted for the passage of the disc 8, and a hood 9 pivoted at 9a covers the disc and the work. The carriage 11 is moved along the members 1d by link mechanism 16 ... 21 actuated by a hand lever 22. Specification 477,581, [Group XXII], is referred to.
