Abstract
A product containing vitamins B and G is obtained by extracting seed or grain germ material one or more times with an organic solvent, preferably at an elevated temperature, and evaporating the extract to dryness, preferably under reduced pressure. Seed and grain materials specified are wheat, corn, rye, oats, barley, beans and peas. Solvents specified are alcohols such as methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, e.g. 50 per cent ethyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, and propyl alcohol; and esters such as ethyl and methyl acetate and propionate, and propyl, butyl and amyl acetates; and mixtures thereof. The products may be mixed with food materials, e.g. malt, baked goods, beverages, sweetmeats, fruits, &c. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 103,294, [Class 2 (iii)], and 366,516.ALSO:A product containing vitamins B and G, which may be mixed with food materials, e.g. malt, baked goods, beverages, sweetmeats, fruits, &c., is obtained by extracting seed or grain germ material one or more times with an organic solvent, preferably at an elevated temperature, and evaporating the extract to dryness, preferably under reduced pressure.
