Abstract

477,486. Pottery manufacture. MADDOCK, W. E. Nov. 13, 1936, No. 30980. [Class 87 (i)] A device for supporting pottery and other goods during firing consists of a base member 1 provided with three or more upstanding pillars 3 on which fit tubular or other distance pieces 8 of various heights to support one or more trays 9 in suitably spaced relation. The pillars pass through holes 11 in the trays and are tapered at their lower ends to fit in holes 2 in the base. Preferably, the base and trays have peripheral flanges 6, 10 and are formed on their upper surfaces with bevelled ribs or conical or other projections. For high temperatures the device is made of fireclay or other earthenware material, but for lower temperatures it may be of metal or other material.
