Abstract
475,542. Excavators. RUSTONBUCYRUS, Ltd. Feb. 18, 1937, No. 4904. Convention date, March 16, 1936. [Class 68 (i)] An excavator bucket is formed of a plate 11 bent to form the back, sides and part of the front, the ends meeting in the centre of the front, where they may be welded, and their upper edges forming an open V space which is filled by a Y-shaped cast front 13 held by rivets 20 and provided with sockets 14 in which teeth 15 are held by tapered pins driven through holes 17 ; adjacent the sockets are projections 19 fitting into the sides of the teeth. A latch keeper 21 for the door 23 is secured by bolts 25 and binds the ends of the plate 11 to the tail 26 of the front. Ribs 32 are welded &c. to the back of the bucket and to reinforcements 30, 31 therefor, and are suitably spaced to receive the bucket arm ; pins inserted through holes 33, 34 hold the arm and its brace, and a pulley may be supported on pin 35. If a bail is to be applied to the bucket, plugs 36, Fig. 8, may be inserted in holes bored through the plate 11 and overlapping parts of the front 13 and reinforcement 30, and secured by weld 38 ; bail pins 37 are supported in the plugs 36 and in brackets 39 secured by rivets 42, the brackets 39 bearing against abutments 40, 41 on the front 13.
