Abstract

474,329. Typeprinting telegraphy. AUTOPHON AKT. - GES. Dec. 1, 1936, No. 35876. Convention date, Jan. 2. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XVI] A start - stop telegraph receiver attachment U fitted below an ordinary typewriter SV comprises permutation members WS each occupying one of two positions under the control of selector magnets WM, horizontal testing members PG with characteristic comb teeth PZ, and actuating members S acting on the type-bars TH through arms TA, the appropriate actuating member being pivoted by the selected testing member so that the hook SH is positioned for vertical displacement by the rail H when the printing magnet HM is energized. The permutation members WS are in the form of lattice girders, Fig. 3, pivoted on knife-edges WR and controlled by springs WF. The selector magnets WM have successively-operated double armatures WA1, WA2, Fig. 3, of which the former are connected to the respective permutation members, and both control contacts WK so that the magnets only receive a portion of the current impulses. The printing magnet HM is arranged with a horizontal iron circuit and with the armature HA moving substantially at right-angles to the plane of this circuit, the relatively-small movement of the armature being converted into a large movement of the rail H by a pin-and-slot connection at a point near the pivot HW. The testing members PG are lifted out of engagement with the permutation members by a rail AS operated by magnets AM at the beginning of a signal and are released for testing after the operation of the selecting magnets WM. The ends SD of the actuating members S may have cheek-members embracing the arms TA The advance of the carriage R for spacing and the lifting and restoration for case-shift are controlled by particular actuating members S, the last two being interlocked so that the carriage is kept raised until the restoration signal is received. Specification 448,607 is referred to.
