Abstract

473,968. Fluid-pressure motor horns. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and HARRIS, T. A. April 22, 1936, No. 11475. [Class 13] In a pneumatically-operated horn in which the air pulsation is controlled by the co-operation of a vibratory disc or the like with a seating in the air passage, the vibratory disc is attached to one end of a resilient blade which is fixed at the other end and means are incorporated for varying the effective length of the blade and for adjusting the setting of the vibratory member relative to its seating. As shown in the Figure, the disc d is associated with a seat b formed in the lower portion of a casing a and is carried by a swivel connection e on a blade f clamped between the portions of the casing. The effective length of the blade is adjusted by means of two curved resilient arms i, i riveted to the blade and in engagement with oppositely threaded portions of a screw passing through a hollow screwthreaded sleeve l. The pressure between the disc d and its seating is adjusted by the engagement of the sleeve l with a collar m on the screw j. A horn is attached to the casing by a screw-threaded connection c. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the ends of the curved resilient arms are clamped between the two portions of the casing and the pressure between the disc and its seat is adjusted by means of a screw-threaded sleeve coaxial with, and external to, the horn connection.
