473,635. Vehicle suspensions. CLAYTON, R. F. May 6, 1936, No. 12761. [Class 108 (ii)] In a road vehicle the body is supported upon and secured to metal tubes, or to wooden bars secured to the tubes, extending transversely across the vehicle, the tubes being spaced apart and passing through bearers or brackets carried by the chassis. The transverse tubes c pass through apertures in the upper parts of the brackets b which are secured to the chassis members a. The tubes c are secured to the brackets by horizontal bolts d the tubes c being reinforced at these parts by short lengths of insertion tubing e. The floor f or longitudinal or transverse battens are bolted to the tubes c by bolts g which may be secured as shown or pass right through the tubes c in which latter case short vertical tubular portions may be inserted as reinforcements. The ends of the tubes c may be capped or they may be covered by side pieces secured to the lower ends of the vertical bars i.
