Abstract

472,784. Machine gun magazines. OSTMAN, O. A., and O/Y TIKKAKOSKI AKTIEBOLAG. Nov. 17, 1936, No. 31465. [Class 92 (ii)] The magazine comprises a cylindrical container 1, a drum or rotor 2 mounted to rotate within said container and formed with two concentric channels 3, 4 adapted to receive cartridges, and a spring 7 adapted to rotate the drum through approximately one revolution to deliver the cartridges from the outer channel 3 and then while the drum remains stationary to a drive follower 11 through approximately another revolution to push the cartridges out of the inner channel 4. The partitions 2a, 2b of the drum are bent outwardly to form an outlet for the inner channel. The cartridges are ejected from the magazine and through the outlet 37 by a fork-shaped ejector 29. The side of the magazine is closed by a cover 1b, on which is a latch 1d pivoted at 1c and adapted to be swung in under the head 9 of a central spring bolt 23 and under the head of a stop pin 1e. The spring bolt is feathered to the central shaft 5 to which one end of the spring 7 is attached. When the latch is swung out and the cover removed, ratchet cogs 23a on the inner surface of the head 9 of the spring bolt are brought into engagement with corresponding holes in a disc 12 formed with finger grips 12a by means of which the spring 7 of the drum can be wound up, after which the cartridges can be inserted. The cover 1b can then be replaced, and the spring bolt pushed out through a central hole in the cover to allow the inward swing of the latch 1d. A stud 36 on the latch then engages the cogs on the head of the spring bolt.
