Abstract
469,470. Securing railway rails. BASELER, W., and GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE OBERHAUSEN AKT.-GES. Oct. 23, 1935, Nos. 29301 and 29302. Void. Convention dates, Oct. 23, 1934 and June 28, 1935. [Class 104 (ii)] Rails are secured between jaws 2, 3 on sleepers or chairs by a pair of wedges 5, 7 between one jaw 3 and the rail. The jaw 2 is curved to give point contact 2<1> with the rail, and the wedge 5 abuts on one side on an inclined face of the jaw 3, and on the other side has two curves which give point contact at 8 with the rail and at 5 with the wedge 7. In another form, the rail is secured at both sides by jaws 3 and wedges 7, 8. In another form, both jaws 2, 3 are curved, and the wedge 7 is driven between the jaw 3 and the wedge 5, or both jaws are provided with pairs of wedges. In another form, one wedge 7 is between the curved jaw 2 and the rail, the other wedge 5 is between the jaw 3 and the rail. In another form, the wedge 5 is in two parts drawn together by a screw bolt. In another form, the wedge 5 is split at one end and the wedge 7 is driven into the split end. In another form, two wedges are arranged between the jaw 3 and the rail, and one between the jaw 2 and the rail. The wedge 7 may be made resilient.
