[Class 97 (ii)] [Also in Group XIX] In a recording instrument, such as a recording theodolite, a printing mechanism 2, carrying a feed sprocket 4 for the paper or like strip 3, is detachably and /or hingedly connected to the instrument casing 1, which carries a pressure roller 5, the strip 3 following substantially the surface of separation between the printing mechanism 2 and the casing 1. As shown, the mechanism 2 is attached to the casing 1 by a pin 9 inserted into an open bearing 8 and by the snap closure 10. The supply spool 3<1> is loosely mounted in a compartment 6. A free wheel 7 may be provided for the sprocket 4.
