Abstract
468,879. Separating solid materials. BAMAG-MEGUIN AKT.-GES. June 29, 1936, No. 18058. Convention date, June 28, 1935. [Class 117] Apparatus for separating granular material according to density as in the separation of coal from admixed slate and other products comprises a series of separate troughs 1 . . . 5, Fig. 1, which are pervious to air and are inclined upwardly from the feed end and given a reciprocating motion so as to convey the material upwardly against gravity. The inclination of the troughs increases progressively from the feed end and the heights of the side walls, decrease progressively. Air is supplied independently to each trough from a main 11 through control valves 12 ... 16 and the air current to the first'trough is preferably continuous while that to the remaining troughs is pulsating. To secure favourable conditions of friction between the materials and the bottoms of the troughs the latter are preferably divided into cells by cross strips 21 and 22, Fig. 3, in which is deposited the small sizes of heavier material such as slate. The troughs are mounted on a frame 6 which is reciprocated on rollers 7 and wedges 8 on a stationary frame 19, the inclination of which is adjustable by the spring support 20.
