Abstract

467,594. Delivering from hoppers. NEWBERY, S., and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. Dec. 20, 1935, No. 35302. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group VIII] In a laundry washing-plant the soiled articles are housed in a hopper 13 having a telescopic shoot 14 communicating in the extended position with the loading aperture in the end of the rotary receptacle 10 of the washing- machine. A current of air is created by blowers 26, 27 to convey the articles from the hopper to the receptacle. After washing, another hopper 21 is connected to the aperture in the end of the receptacle by a collapsable coupling 24 and a current of air is created in the reverse direction to discharge the washed articles from the receptacle to the hopper 21 from which they subsequently pass to a hydroextractor 22. This current may be warmer. In a modification, loading takes place at one end of the receptacle and discharging at the other.
