[Class 12 (i)] A slide a, either straight or slightly curved, is guided by balls d which engage bevelled surfaces on its edges. These balls are mounted on rings of balls e held in removable cups f. The end of a spring ring g is bent up at h to prevent the accidental displacement of the balls when the slide is removed. Similar arrangements are described for guiding round rods in rectilinear motion.
