464,469. Braid. NARROW FABRIC CO. July 12, 1935, No. 7582/37. Convention date, April 11, 1935. Divided out of 464,394. [Class 74 (i)] A braided elastic band comprises longitudinally extending border portions and central portion, including longitudinal elastic strands and inelastic transverse strands forming pillarlike portions 1, spaced apart longitudinally of the band, the elastic strands being decussated in one or more pairs between the pillar-like portions. The band is provided with a picot edge b, and a topping edge c, this topping edge comprising braided inelastic threads 101, 102, 103, &c., held in place by an intertwisted pair of elastic threads 150, 151, forming selvedge edge with openings 161, 162, 163, &c., for topping on to the needles of a stocking- knitting knitting machine. The band is made by the general method described in Specification 464,394, the pairs of longitudinally extending elastic strands being substantially parallel to each other in the pillar-like portions.
