[Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XL] In a system for transmitting simultaneously a plurality of meter readings the meters control shutters A, W, V disposed in a beam of light L and arranged to obscure more or less light as shown in Fig. 2 according to the meter readings. A disc D having radial slits F rotates in the beam, the slits F facilitating the illumination of a photo-electric cell C by successive light impulses, the values of which are determined by the shutter positions. The electric impulses produced by the cell, which may modulate a carrier wave, are applied at the receiver to a cathode-ray tube to produce one co-ordinate movement of the ray, the other co-ordinate movement being produced by the signal related to the distance between the slits F. In this manner, the ray produces on a screen a trace having points t which with an associated scale provide indications corresponding to the measured valves. A synchronizing signal also is produced by the light impulse at E, Fig. 2. If at the receiver the synchronizing signal is received at a spot other than R, the ray affects one or other of the cells C<1>, C<2> to effect correction. Alternatively correction may be effected manually.
