Abstract

463,273. Collapsable tubes. GINZLER, F. G., and EWENS, E. J. Nov. 5, 1936, No. 28920/35. [Class 66] The tubular body 3, formed of cellulose acetate, regenerated cellulose or other cellulose derivative, has a flared opening 6 which is pushed over a shoulder 4 of a neck 1 of non-corrosive metal such as aluminium. A flange 5 is turned over the end 6 so as to form a double seam. A sealing solution may be used and the outer surface of the shoulder 4 may be knurled or corrugated. The body may be formed with a closed lower end from a solution on a glass former or may be formed by rolling a sheet and securing overlapping edges, the lower end being closed by stitching or by a metal clamp. Metal strips may be secured to the outside of the body.
