Abstract

Soaps, shaving creams, and toothpastes are prepared by adding to these preparations, protein degradation products of high molecular weight, which consist of lysalbinic acid and/or protalbinic acid or contain these substances as the main constituents, substituted at the nitrogen by higher fatty acid residues, or the alkali salts of these products. These products may be prepared as described in Specification 413,016, [Group IV]. The higher fatty acid residues preferably contain 12--18 carbon atoms, e.g. the residues of lauric, palmitic, stearic, oleic ricinoleic, linoleic linolenic or soya-bean fatty acid, or the acids contained in tall oil. In examples: (1) a shaving cream is prepared by adding potassium oleyl-lysalbinate, water and perfume to a potash soap; (2) to a liquid hair soap are added sulphonated castor oil and a solution of the condensation product of soya bean oil fatty acid chloride and lysalbinic acid; (3) a tooth paste comprises the sodium salt of the condensation product of soya-bean oil fatty acid chloride and lysalbinic and protalbinic acids, hydrogen peroxide, tartaric acid disodium phosphoric, water, sweetening material peppermint oil and alcohol; (4) a tooth paste is prepared by condensing oleic acid chloride with a protein degradation product containing lysalbinic and protalbinic acids as the main constituents, neutralizing with ammonia, and adding chalk, sugar, peppermint oil, alcohol, and water. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the preparation of salves, and includes the following examples: (1) colloidal sulphur mixed with an emulsion of stearyl lysalbinic acid in water; (2) aluminium acetate solution mixed with an emulsion of oleyl lysalbinic acid in water. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Toothpastes are prepared by adding thereto protein degradation products of high molecular weight, which consist of lysalbinic acid and/or protalbinic acid or contain these substances as the main constituents, substituted at the nitrogen by higher fatty acid residues, or the alkali salts of these products.
