Abstract

462,258. Television. WALTON, G. W. Sept. 6, 1935, No. 24845. Addition to 432,017. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] Light transmitted by simultaneously operative apertures 5 forms a moving light field 6 which is projected on juxtaposed light-sensitive surfaces 10, each of which is connected to one of a number of transmission channels 12 less than the number of apertures. The image of the light field is.formed by tiers of lenses, Fig. 4. The first tier 13 comprises one lens, which forms an image of the whole field, the second tier 14 comprises two lenses, each of which forms an enlarged coinciding image of one half of the field, the third tier 15 comprises three lenses, each of which forms an enlarged coinciding image of one third of the field, and so on. Alternatively, the field is projected on a lightsensitive surface, Fig 8, which comprises a number of portions which are so connected electrically that they form insulated groups 1, 2, 3, each of which is connected to one transmitting channel. The portions are connected in rows. The first comprises one set of portions from each of the groups, the second row comprises two such sets, the third row three, and so on. At the receiver, each of a number of juxtaposed light sources is controlled by signals from the corresponding channel to produce, by means of tiers of lenses, a moving light field corresponding to that at the transmitter. The light is projected on a screen through scanning apertures equal in number to those at the transmitter. The scanning- apparatus is similar to that described in Specification 379,303. Specification 403,395 also is referred to.
