Abstract
462,021. Moulding toffee &c. by rolling- machines. MANSFIELD, T. J. G., and FRASER, L. S. Aug. 20, 1935, No. 23384. [Class 87 (ii)] Articles of toffee and similar material are moulded in interconnected sheet form, each article or piece having a thick border and a thin body portion which may be ribbed or corrugated. Fig. 3 shows portions of two rollers a, a<1> for shaping a sheet of toffee into a number of pieces having thick borders c<2> and thinner ribbed body portions b<2>, the pieces being interconnected by thin webs f<2>. Fig. 5 shows a single piece having a corrugated body surrounded by a thick border. The shaping is performed on a plane sheet of toffee by rollers as shown in Fig. 1. Ribs b form the corrugations on the body portions of each piece of toffee, and ribs e and cooperating longitudinal shaped ribs f, f<1> form the thin webs ,f<2> between adjacent pieces. The borders are produced by the spacing intervals between the groups of ribs b. In the form of article shown in Fig. 5 the border is of greater depth than the body portion to form a space for receiving jam, cream, &c., which may be covered by a similar but inverted article to form a sandwich.
