Abstract
460,718. Photographic cameras. POLYFOTO, Ltd., WATSON & SONS, Ltd., W., and GREEN, C. E. Aug. 2, 1935, No. 21972. [Class 98 (i)] In a camera for taking a plurality of exposures on a single plate or film, a cap is provided for insertion or removal of the photographic plate, which cap is automatically locked after the plate or film has started its movement and until the plate or film has been returned to its initial position. The plate holder 2 with its dark slide 3 and photographic plate 4 are moved horizontally and vertically in guides 6 by means of a handle 5 and rack 7. In its starting position, the rack 7 abuts against a pivoted lever 10 and moves a spring urged bolt 12 out of engagement with a recess 14 in the cap 15. This enables the cap to slide back for removal or insertion of a plate. When the plate holder has moved away, a spring 13 forces the bolt 12 into the recess 14 to lock the cap 15. When the plate holder 2 reaches the end of its movement, it strikes against a projection 17 on a tilting latch 18, liberates a pivoted arm 19 and moves a projection 23 into the path of handle 5. This arm 19 is integral with an external control arm 21 and the plate holder 2 is raised thereby, a projection 28 on the arm 19 engaging under the holder. A latch maintains the arm 21 in both extreme positions. When the plate holder returns to its initial position, it releases the bolt 12 by engagement with the lever 10. The cap 15 slides in grooves 30 against a spring 31 and has a projection 32 which engages an upwardly extending lug 34 on a nose piece 35 which is attached to the holder 2 by a spring 351. When the cap is slid away and the nose piece 35 has been retracted, the plate can be inserted along guide members 38. When the cap is slid back, the nose piece overlies and holds the plate 4 and dark slide 3 but allows the sheath 36,to be withdrawn. Specification 401,543 is referred to.
