460,126. Purl - knitting machines. ELITE DIAMANTWERKE AKT.-GES. July 6, 1936, No. 18689. Convention date, July 8, 1935. [Class 74 (ii)] In a purl-knitting machine, needles headed at each end are moved by pushers 4 formed with hooks 5 to engage over the heads 3 and with extensions 6 having knife-edged ends 9 to open the latches 10 of the needles. The needles are bent upwards at 2 so that they are held down in their beds by the extensions 6. The pushers 4 are held down by bridge pieces 8 mounted on slides 7 and, as soon as each pusher passes under a recess 12 in the part 8, it can rise to release the needle head. A brush 13, Fig. 5, prevents the latches from shutting and it may also effect or assist in the latch-opening.
