[Class 19] [See also Group VI] A device for brushing the teeth and massaging the gum comprises one or a plurality of brushing members 4, each mounted at one end of an arm 3 which is pivotally connected at the other end to a handle or other support 2 so as to be capable of free angular deflection. The arms 3 are secured to pivots to which are secured gears 5a and 5c. The latter intermesh with an idle gear 5b so that the two arms move in unison in the same plane. To enable the arms 3 to overlap when in alignment, they are slightly offset. The brushes are renewable, being mounted on stocks 8 which fit into resilient fork members 7 on the arms 3. The device may be applied to a thimble 13 instead of a handle, as shown in Fig. 5. The brushes are preferably pointed and asymmetrically shaped, the point being located at or near the free ends of the arm. As an alternative to brushes, massaging members of rubber or other suitable soft material may be used, the shape being indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 5.
