Abstract

458,785. Tar &c. boilers. COLEMAN, F., c /o Coleman & Sons, Ltd., T., Alfreton Road, Derby. June 27, 1935, No. 18359. [Class 107] The heated wall or walls of a tar, bitumen, or like boiler a having welded thereto a number of heat-conducting gills or fins d which project into the mass to be heated. In the construction shown, the gills are arranged longitudinally of the boiler and above the fire-box c. They may, alternatively, be arranged above the bottom flue passage l or, again, over the whole of the bottom surface of the boiler. In a modification, the gills extend laterally of the boiler and are arranged in spaced relationship over the whole length thereof. Apertures are provided in the fins to enable the tar to drain to an outlet valve provided at one end of the boiler. The boiler is provided with a hinged chimney and with an oscillatory agitating device.
