Abstract
458,491. Colour kinematography; kinematograph apparatus. C.M.C. CORPORATION, 52, Vanderbilt Avenue, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Moreno, G. G. ; 1249, Gower Street, Los Angeles, U.S.A.) March 12, 1935, No. 7696. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 13, 1935]. [Class 97 (i)] In the simultaneous projection of colourrecord images, each image is projected both by unfiltered light and by light appropriately filtered ; such projection may be effected in apparatus comprising two lenses, a two-picture gate, and intermittent mechanism feeding one image at a time or two images at a time. Fig. 8 shows a projector having a twopicture gate 4, two lenses 8, 9, and an intermittent sprocket 7. The sprocket 7 is of twice the normal circumference, and is rotated at half the normal frequency, when two images are fed simultaneously ; it may be of normal size and rotation frequency for feeding one image at a time, each image being projected twice. The gate may have separate aperture plates 34, 35, Fig. 10, respectively vertically and laterally adjustable by screws 36, 40 engaging slots. The upper and lower lenses 8, 9 may be respectively vertically and horizontally adjustable in slides 14, 19, Fig. 9, by screws 16, 21 and may be simultaneously focused by turning a head 28 on a shaft 27 carrying a pinion 26, engaging a rack 25 on a slide 22. The lens axes are parallel and their separation may be adjusted to less than the image pitch to produce superposition on the screen. The projector may be used without colour filters to project monochrome images with increased appearance of depth, or with colour filters for the projection of colour-record images. If two images are fed simultaneously three filters 45, 46, 47, Fig. 8, may be mounted in a vertically adjustable frame, the filters 45, 47 being of the same colour, and the filter 46 of the complementary colour. The frame may be adjusted so that either the filters 45, 46 or the filters 46, 47 are before the lenses. If the images are fed singly, the filters may be carried by a rotary disc having filters 50, 52, Fig. 12, of one colour, filters 51, 53 of the complementary colour, and opaque sectors 55, 56. Such a disc may be used in conjunction with the usual shutter on a shaft 57. Fig. 4 shows fixed filters comprising an orange-red filter 11<1> and a red filter 12<1> used together for one image, and a green filter 10<1> used for the other image. Unfiltered light may be included in the projection beams by the provision of an aperture 20 in all the filters, by the provision of a similar aperture in one of the filters separately, or by adjustment of the positions of the filters to permit unfiltered light to pass their edges.
