[Class 40 (iii)] A mirror helix has N laminations and is adapted to trace n.N lines per revolution, n being an integer greater than 1. The laminations may be reflecting on both front and back edges so that each lamination produces two scanning lines in one revolution. Alternatively, a normal helix may co-operate with a plurality of linear light sources, spaced apart by the length of the scanning line, while the axis of the helix is inclined with respect to the vertical light sources. Each light source then produces one line, and the tilting of the helix causes the lines to be shifted so as to be formed one above the other. Instead of tilting the helix, each mirror may be tilted on a vertical axis. The light sources may be separate or may be images of one light source.
