Abstract

458,041. Shovels. HARVEY, W. E. J., 74, Graham Road, South Yardley, Birmingham. June 27, 1935, No. 18385. [Class 6 (ii)] A sifting shovel comprises upstanding sheet or plate metal side and rear walls 1, 2, 3, and a perforated floor, an aperture 15 in the floor being provided adjacent to and extending the length of the upstanding rear wall. A bridge piece 4, preferably inclined slightly to form a ramp, connects the forward ends of the side walls, being united thereto by spot welding. This bridge piece and the side and rear walls may be perforated. The floor of the shovel is formed preferably of a number of pieces of wire 7 forming a grid-like structure, being carried by transverse wires 10, 11 secured to the side walls by welding. The outer wire 14 is bent round to follow the contour of the side and rear walls of the shovel leaving a space 15. The bars may be of circular, halfround, oval, triangular, pear-shaped, rectangular, inverted-V or other desired crosssection and may run longitudinally or transversely of the length of the shovel.
