Abstract
394,076. Shovels. HARVEY, W. E. J., 57, Alton Road, Bournbrook, Birmingham. March 1, 1932, No. 6130. [Class 6 (ii).] A separating or sifting shovel for domestic use comprises a floor 1, upstandings side walls 2, 3, and an upstanding back wall 4, all formed from sheet metal by a pressing process, the floor and one or more of the upstanding walls being provided or formed with slots 5. The shovel shown is made from a single sheet, the sides and end wall being joined together by welded overlapping ears 6. The walls may be vertical or inclined and the end wall 4 may be straight or curved in plan. The slots 5 may terminate in the end wall 4, and may be interrupted. Their ends may be square or rounded. The lower parts of the side walls 2, 3 may be slotted, and their front ends 12 may be bevelled or sloped. The bars between the slots may be rectangular and horizontal or inclined laterally ; or they may be of arc or inverted V-shape in cross section. The handle 7 may be formed of half-round metal and secured by riveting or welding ; or it may be of socket type or of wood fitting into a socket.
