Abstract

455,660. Toy vehicles. LIONEL CORPORATION, 15, East 26th Street, New York, U.S.A. May 29, 1935, No. 15621. Convention date, Feb. 4. [Class 132 (iii)] A toy, Fig. 1, for running on track 17 or on the floor, is driven by a spring motor 10 concealed bv a sheet metal cover member 20 welded to two laterally extending platform members 21 and 22 carrying figures 35 connected by exposed linkages 41 and 44 to the driving wheels 15 so that they are animated and appear to be actuating the toy. The feet and bodies of the figures 35 may be made of moulded composition and the legs 34 of lengths of flexible rubber rod secured by nails 37. The spring motor 10 preferably has no speed limiting governor, the resistance offered by the reversing of the linkages and figures limiting the speed of the toy. Various degrees of governing action may be obtained according to the point on the link 41 at which the link 44 is connected. In the modified construction shown in Fig. 5, the figure has permanently fixed legs 50, a pivoted body 51, and pivoted arms 52, and the wheels 55 may be rubber tyred for use on the floor.
