Abstract
455,180. Grinding-mills. MANTELET & BOUCHER, 11, Rue Jules Ferry, Bagnolet, Seine, France. Dec. 10, 1935, Nos. 34243 and 34244. Convention dates, Dec. 15, 1934 and Sept. 30, 1935. [Class 59] In a mill for grinding pepper &c. a number of recesses 34 are located opposite the peripheral edge of the rotary crushing member 4 whereby the grains of pepper are held during the crushing process. As shown a glass &c. container 1 is provided at the bottom with a sieve 2 secured. to a flange on the container. A spindle 3 is pivoted at the centre of the sieve and carries a propellerlike crusher 4 which crushes by the pressure exerted by its edges against material adjacent the side walls of the container which may be serrated. An angularly shaped washer is secured to the top of the spindle 3 and is seated in a recess in a rotatable cover 27 and is secured thereto by a nut 32. The spindle 3 may be driven by a cranked handle and the propeller may have a single blade. The serrations may be cut in the body of the container or formed on the sieve.
