455,162. Oven - slices. HILLYARD, B., 351, Dallow Road, Luton, Bedfordshire. July 12, 1935, No. 19962. [Class 28 (i)] [See also Group I] An oven slice or shovel for removing or handling hot articles, such as plates and dishes, comprises a blade 1 of sheet metal having the rear portions of the sides thereof formed with a slight rim 3 of less height than the usual rim of a plate or dish so that the rim, whilst preventing the plate or plates from sliding off, will not prevent the bottom plate from seating properly on the blade 1. The front edge of the blade 1 is tapered in plan at 2, and the rear part is formed as a semicircle. As shown, the handle is formed integrally with the blade 1, and has the edges 4 rolled over for stiffness. The shank is bent back on itself and is riveted to the blade at 6. The part 7 is turned up to prevent hot plates from slipping back into contact with the hand. The handle may be formed separately and secured to the blade 1 by rivets.
