Abstract

454,672. Latch &c. knob guards. SEYD, F. O., 32, Claigmar Gardens, Church End, Finchley, London. May 27, 1935, No. 15438. [Class 44] A security device for enclosing the usual latch knob of a night latch comprises a cylindrical box in two halves 11, 12 hinged at one edge to enable the box to be fitted over the usual knob 18, and the box is maintained closed by self-contained locking means. Two adjustable screws 20 are provided to prevent undue movement. A completely circular front 21 on the part 12 overlaps a segment 31 on the part 11 and the two are locked together by a screw bolt 23 having a D-shaped head turnable by a key inserted in a cup shaped end 24 of a tubular member 22 on the front 21. Flanges 32, 33 engage the lock case to prevent rotation of the device. Similar flanges are provided to prevent sliding when the device is used on a sliding knob. Fig. 6 shows a sliding bolt 46 controlled by three permutation discs 35-37 rotating upon a slotted sleeve 34. A pin 40 on the bolt prevents its withdrawal until notches in the discs 35-37 have been correctly set.
