Abstract

454,479. Manifolding stationery. UNITED AUTOGRAPHIC REGISTER CO., 5000, South California Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. Feb. 18, 1936, No. 4971. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1935. [Class 16] A stationery web comprises a number of inscription bearing slips 16 connected end to end to form a carrier strip B, and packs A consisting of record slips 10 and interleaved transfer slips 13 secured to the strip and superposed above each slip 16. The packs A may be bound together by means of margins 11 separable along perforated lines 12, and may be attached to the strip B by glue. The strip B is divided into slips 16 by perforated lines 17, and additional perforated lines 19 in register with the lines 12 may be provided. Holes 15 and 18 may be provided in the packs and carrier strip respectively to facilitate assembly of the web. The transfer slips 13 are preferably shorter than the record slips 10. The packs A may be slightly separated from each other on the strip B. Apparatus for forming the stationery comprises a continuous conveyer belt mounted on two pulleys and having register pins thereon to engage the holes 18 in the strip B, and the packs A, which may be notched at the top edges, are secured on the strip B with their top edges registered by the pins on the belt ; if holes 15 are provided in the packs A then these are engaged by the register pins. In one modification, the slips forming the carrier strip are joined together by short gummed tabs, and in another, the carrier strip is wider than the packs and provided with register holes to co-operate with a feed mechanism.
