Abstract

453,696. Mine-arch supports. FISHER, O., Airedale House, and BROOK, G. S., Mount Pleasant, both in Fryston, near Castleford, Yorkshire. May 8, 1936, No. 12991. [Class 20 (ii)] In order to prevent undue strain on the legs of minearch sections, where they are supported at their ends on vertical extension legs, a clamp is provided which supports the end of the leg of the arch section and which can slide under resistance on the upstanding foot. The clamp is formed in two halves 1, 2 having interfitting projections and recesses 3, 4, one half being adapted to receive the end of the arch leg 5 while the other half is grooved vertically to receive the vertical upstanding support leg 6. A bearing stop 7 is provided for the end of the arch leg. Wooden packing 9 is inserted between the legs, and the sliding pressure is adjusted by a screw 11. The arch legs may be parallel or inclined with respect to the extension legs.
