Abstract
453,678. Winding yarns. REINERS, W., 214, Bahnstrasse, Gladbach, Munich, Germany. Oct. 7, 1935, No. 27667. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1934. [Class 120 (ii)] The threads extending from the thread guides of a winding machine to the wound cops are, on the completion of a set, secured by clamping devices, one for each spindle, each device comprising a fixed jaw and a movable jaw; the movable jaw in its position of rest faces the thread between the guide and cop and is moved from that position part-way round the spindle into contact with the fixed jaw so as to loop the thread and clamp it against the fixed jaw, the thread being then ruptured for the doffing of the completed cops. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the threads are engaged by movable jaws 22 having T-shaped ends 23 and carried by a bar 21 mounted in levers 19 at the ends of the machine frame. One of the levers is slid and rotated in a gate 20 by hand or automatically so that the threads are taken by the jaws 22 and clamped against the fixed jaws 24, which may be resilient; after the threads are ruptured, by turning a hand wheel 15 on the spindle-driving shaft 1, the spindle bearings 9 are retracted and the completed cops 10 drop into a receptacle or on to a conveyer belt, the thread ends from the guides 4 being clamped by the fresh cop tubes against the spindle ends 26. In another arrangement the movable jaws are fixed to a rod actuated by crank gearing and a cutter is arranged adjacent each resilient fixed jaw so that as the movable jaws clamp the looped threads against the fixed jaws, the threads extending from the jaws to the completed cops are severed. In a further form, the movable jaws are pins fixed to wheels mounted on the spindle and moved therearound to clamp the threads in loops against the fixed jaws ; the wheels may be formed as pinions, engaging, and actuated by, a rack and the threads are ruptured by turning the spindledriving shaft.
