453,027. Heating buildings. VENNET, G. VAN DER, 4, Rue de Chestret, Liege, Belgium. Sept. 23, 1935, No. 26349. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1934. [Class 64 (ii)] [See also Group XXIX] An apparatus for maintaining the pressure in a system heated by hot water comprises a vessel 2 containing mercury 4 connected at 2a to the return pipe of the hot water system. A tube 5 closed at the top dips into the mercury, and a tube 6 opening at the top into an expansion vessel 3 also dips into the mercury less deeply than the tube 5 and is flared at the lower end. Expansion of water in the system forces mercury up the tube 6 till the lower end is uncovered, when water rises through the mercury in the tube 6 into the vessel 3 and returns to the vessel 2 through a valve 7. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Section 91, the tube 5 may open at the top into the vessel 3 and the tube containing the valve 7 is omitted. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
