Abstract
452,907. Thermionic valves. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.-(Assignees of Salzberg, B. ; 30, Lenox Avenue, East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A.) March 2, 1936, No. 6313. Convention date, March 6, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] A unitarv electrode assembly is supported from radially arranged stiff leads 20 which extend through an annular press 21, Fig. 4, in the wall of the envelope, the ends of the leads being secured by clip contacts 45 ; these are fixed on a ring of insulation 44 placed on a shielding partition 43. The assembly as shown consists of a pentode, the cathode and grid supports of which arc carried by upper and lower insulating spacers 18, 19 ; a box anode 15 has side plates 16 with bent ends 17 to grip the sides of the spacers. The leads 20 are electrically connected to the appropriate electrodes and are attached to the lower spacer 19 by bent wires 22 welded to the electrodes and passing through holes 23 in the spacer ; one end of each of these wires bears on the underside of the spacer. The anode lead 27 passes through the upper end of the envelope, and the control grid lead 26 through the lower end ; interlead capacity is reduced by upper and lower screens, the upper consisting of a box 35 carried by a metal disc 31 and fixed by side rods 36 to the lower screen. This consists of an inverted flanged member 37 separated from the electrode assembly by an insulating plate 40. The disc 31, member 37 and plate 40 have apertures to allow the passage of electrode supports &c. The screens are connected to the cathode by a rod 42, or may have a separate earthing lead. The getter tab 28 is carried by the anode and directs the getter to the side wall of the envelope.
