Abstract
452,580. Pocket and like knives. MARRIS, R. W. H., Pinewood, Ashley Close, Walton-on-Thames, and WESTON & CO., Ltd., C., 2, Portsmouth Street, Kingsway, London. Feb. 25, 1935, No. 5964. [Class 30] In knives of the kind in which a blade is slidable in side a case or handle and is lockable by a spring in various positions, such as the kind described in Specification 383,237, the case is formed in two parts 2, 3, which have three interengaging sides and are held together by friction. Preferably, the parts are dovetailed in cross-section, the part 2 being pressed laterally to grip the slide 3 after the latter has been slidden into position, or the part 3 and the slot in the part 2 may be tapered lengthwise so that they can be forced into permanent engagement by endwise pressure. Various other ways of securing the parts 2 and 3 together are described. The blade 4 is held in various positions by a spring 8 carrying a plug 11 and finger button 12a. The plug is adapted to be pressed upwards by the spring into engagement with one of a number of recesses 14 on the under side of a central slot in the part 3.
