Abstract

Beet pulp is pressed and dried, ground to produce a graded mixture of coarse and fine particles to minimize voids and then incorporated with molasses; the mixture may then be subjected to pressure, with the addition of water or steam if desired, to mould or extrude it into the form of rods and other shapes. Salt, calcium carbonate and oil bearing materials, e.g. ground nuts, may be incorporated in the mixture before moulding.
