[Class 132 (ii)] A grip for a golf club is of substantially elliptical or ovate cross-section and has a longitudinally and transversely convexed surface 1 on one side and a longitudinally concaved and transversely convexed surface 3 on the opposite side, the sides 1 and 3 converging and diverging respectively with respect to the axis of the shaft and diverging with respect to each other towards the upper end of the shaft and away from the strike side of the club. The width of the grip from the convex surface 1 to the concave surface 3 is less than the width of the grip at right angles to this direction, i.e. from the surface 5 to the surface 6. The surfaces 5 and 6 are both convex longitudinally, the surface 5 being closer to the axis of the shaft than the surface 6. The end surface 7 of the club slopes at an acute angle to the axis of the shaft and is covered by a rounded button 8. The construction of grip allows it to be used by different players with different sized hands. The grip may be of wood and adapted to be secured to the upper end of the club shaft. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the grip comprises a plurality of flattened surfaces, the narrowest 6 being channelled, grooved or ridged longitudinally at 10. In the construction shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the cross section of the grip is more elliptical and grooves 9 and 10 are preferably cut in the surfaces 5 and 6 respectively or ridges may take the place of the grooves or may be arranged in the grooves as shown in Fig. 6.
