Abstract
451,384. Tennis rackets. SPENCER, V., 2, Coogee Bay Road, Randwick, near Sydney, Australia. Sept. 16, 1935, No. 25591. [Class 132 (ii)] Each string 20 of a tennis racket may be separately tensioned by anchoring one end to a socket or bush 21 in the tubular frame 15, and threading the other end through a nipple 23 located in a hole drilled in the frame, one end of the nipple being adapted to receive a screw-threaded tensioning key and the other end drilled to receive a locking- pin 27 engaging grooves 28 in the frame. Alternatively, a single narrow continuous groove may be provided in the frame to hold all the locking-pins 27 which may engage open slots 30, Fig. 9, in the nipple heads 23. Each pair of strings may comprise a continuous length of gut, the central portion of which passes round a roller or curved block in the frame.
