[Class 108 (ii)] In an independent wheel-suspension system of the torsion-spring parallelogram-link type the springing is applied to the top link and the connections between the outer ends of the links and the wheel carrier comprise ball joints such that, by the action of springing, the joint member at the end of the top link is pressed downwardly onto or into the complementary joint member on the wheel carrier. The wheel carrier g is mounted in the upper and lower links a, b by means of ball and socket joints. The ball members f<3>, f<4> are mounted in the sockets f<1>, f<2> by split linings h<1> which are held in position by screwed rings h<2> and the joints are lubricated, in the case of the upper one, by a reservoir h and ducts therefrom while the lower ball member f4 has bored therein a reservoir and a duct leading thereto bored in the carrier g and provided with a filling plug. The upper short link a alone is sprung, being journalled at its inner end on a spindle d which is fixed in the chassis bracket e<1> and has secured to it the static disc c<1> of a rubber torsion spring c, the torque transmitting disc c<2> being secured to the inner end of the link a. The spring c is a single one, and is disposed in front of the link a. In modifications the ball members of the joints may be on the links or on one link and on the wheel carrier while the torsion spring may be a double one disposed fore- and-aft of the upper link a.
