Abstract

Preparations which is contact with water swell to form coherent jellies and are suitable for sealing wounds are manufactured by comminuting insoluble (or mainly insoluble) gums and tragacanths or carob bean seeds, heating the powder, e.g. at temperatures of 120-140 DEG C., until a noticeable change of colour occurs and sifting the powder so as to remove particles retained by a No. 35 screen (U.S. standard), having a width of opening of 0,5 mm.
