Abstract
449,438. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Nov. 21, 1935, No. 32333. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1934. [Class 38 (ii)] In order to reduce the amount of liquid necessary for cooling and insulating liquid - immersed electrical apparatus such as transformers, insulating bodies 13 are packed into the space between the apparatus 10 and its casing 11, the bodies being of such size and shape as to permit substantially unrestricted circulation of the liquid. The bodies are preferably made ofa material having the same dielectric constant as the liquid. As an example, fired clay bodies of at least one half inch in diameter are used in association with a halogenated aryl compound such as chlorinated diphenyl as the liquid.
