Abstract

448,564. Dispensing fuel and lubricating-oils. LOGETTE, A. I., and DAINTON, E. H., Skyhi Works, 'Standard Road, Park Royal, London. Jan. 19, 1935, No. 1873. [Class 116] An apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquids, particularly liquid fuels and lubricating-oils, and comprising a pump and flow meter, is provided with a pawl 15 driven by an eccentric on a shaft i driven by the flow meter, this pawl rotating step-by-step a ratchet wheel 1 coupled to a cam 2 controlling a lever 16 which governs either a cut-off valve 20 or a tilting mercury switch 30, Fig. 5, controlling the pump driving motor. The cam may be preset by a knob 13, Fig. 2, mounted on a shaft 9 geared to a shaft 3 on which the cam 2 and ratchet wheel are secured, a pointer 13a being provided to indicate the quantity to be delivered. A pawl 14 prevents retrograde movement of the ratchet wheel. On completion of the delivery of the predetermined quantity of liquid, the end of the lever 16 drops into a gap 2a in the cam and the valve 20 closes to cut off supply of liquid to the dispensing nozzle. The valve 20 may be either on the inlet or discharge side of the flow meter.
